Power Vents |
Electric-powered attic vents use a thermostat and humidistat control to monitor heat and moisture buildup inside the attic. Static Vents |
These covered openings allow air to escape the attic. Several of these vents are usually required to properly ventilate the attic. They should be placed evenly across the roof. Choose from metal or plastic in round, square or slant-back designs. |
Wall louvers are installed in the gable end of the attic. The higher they are placed, the more effective they become as exhaust vents. Wall louvers are not preferred for ventilating an attic, because they provide limited airflow under the roof deck, resulting in "hot spots." |
A non-electric alternative to ventilation, these vents use the natural force of wind and air pressure to spin and vent out stale attic air. They do it with a series of specially shaped vanes that catch the wind and provide rotary motion. This pulls hot, humid air from the attic. Turbine vents provide a low-cost ventilation alternative in areas where wind speeds of at least 5 mph are typical. |

For intake venting, made in plastic or aluminum, these vents install in your soffit or eave areas. Available in aluminum or PVC, these vents are 2" by 96" long and provide 9 square inches of net free area per linear foot. |
These screened aluminum vents are available in three sizes: 16" x 4" provides 28 square inches of net free area per piece; 16" x 6" provides 42 square inches of net free area per piece; and 16" x 8" provides 56 square inches of net free area per piece. |
