See charted results of airflow and rain infiltration tests of Air Vent's ShingleVent® II compared to other popular ridge vents. Results are impressive.

Airflow

During a one-hour early morning time period when average wind speed was only 3.5 miles per hour, researchers measured the airflow coming out of a ridge with ShingleVent II installed on it, compared to a ridge with Cobra Vent® rolled ridge vent installed on it. This test was performed on an actual test home at a research facility in Florida. The results are charted at the right.

How well does ShingleVent II work to prevent weather infiltration compared to other ridge vents?

ShingleVent II passes Dade County tests without a drop in the bucket.
In rain infiltration tests conducted in accordance with the Dade County Building Code Protocol, different styles of ridge vents were installed according to manufacturers' instructions on a 4/12 roof. After being subjected to rain and winds that varied from 35-110 mph, ShingleVent II passed the test without even a drop in the bucket. As you can see from the chart at right, other ridge vents didn't fare so well.
